How to qualify?
You can achieve WormFEC Gold status for your FLOCK as well as INDIVIDUAL RAMS.
WormFEC Gold status for your FLOCK
For a FLOCK to qualify for WormFEC Gold status, they must:
- Have been testing for at least 8 years
- FEC test at least 30% of all lambs weaned and/or 25 lambs per sire used
- Have an average flock DPF1 above 0, with an accuracy of at least 40%
- Be genetically connected for WormFEC

WormFEC Gold status for INDIVIDUAL RAMS
Once a flock has qualified for WormFEC Gold, an INDIVIDUAL RAM can qualify for different levels on the star based system.
One star: DPF over the 50th percentile (DPFacc>40%), NZMW over the 50th percentile.
Two star: DPF over the 40th percentile (DPFacc>40%), NZMW over the 50th percentile.
Three star: DPF over the 30th percentile (DPFacc>40%), NZMW over the 50th percentile.
Four star: DPF over the 20th percentile (DPFacc>40%), NZMW over the 50th percentile.
Five star: DPF over the 10th percentile (DPFacc>40%), NZMW over the 50th percentile.
The percentile bands used to rate individual WormFEC Gold rams will be based on the October 2018 Young Ram NZGE information (Click here for the 2018 NZGE). This will be updated in October every year, once the October NZGE has completed.
From the born 2017 rams, this means:
Percentile bands taken from October 2018 NZGE young sire report:
- NZMW from NZMW index report
- DPF from WormFEC trait report
These criteria will be subject to evaluation yearly at the AGM.
