Frequent Testing

In order to select and breed highly parasite resistant animals, our members have gone the extra mile to understand the parasite burdens in their animals. Our members have got their hands dirty (literally) and collected faecal egg counts (FEC) for many years and sent it for testing on Techion’s internet-connected FECPAKG2 diagnostic platform.

Collectively our members have taken over 65,000 FEC samples, and in 2018 our members took on average over 300 FEC samples each!

Diversity is key

  • The Group manage breeding farms across a full spectrum of typographies – river flats to rolling country right up to the high tussocks.

  • Their farms range in size from 600 to 4,000+ hectares and their flock sizes range from 4,000 to over 11,000 sheep.

  • Importantly, they specialise in a number of breeds, including Romney, Romney/Texel, Perendale, Coopworth, Texel and Composite.
